Capsule Geology

Whipple Mountain consists mainly of Permian to Carboniferous schists and gneisses, which are overlain by Upper Triassic undif- ferentiated andesitic volcanic and clastic sedimentary rocks. Mineralization is restricted to veins of tetrahedrite (host rock unknown), and others of quartz and chalcopyrite.
